Adobe expertise joins gaming studio

Frits Habermann appointed as PopCap CTO
PopCap Games, creator of titles such as Plants vs. Zombies and Peggle, has hired Frits Habermann as the company’s new chief technical officer.

Habermann is moving from Adobe, where he spent 20 years, most recently overseeing deep-science technologies for all Adobe Products as VP of Core Technologies. He is best known as the co-founder of Adobe InDesign.

Habermann will report to executive vice president of studios, Ed Allard, and succeeds Brian Fiete, a PopCap founder. Fiete will become Technology Fellow to the company.

“We’re thrilled to have Frits joining our management team” says Allard. “Frits brings strong leadership and deep management experience, with a long history of products that focus on the user experience...His passion for gaming, combined with his background leading the technology group at Adobe, makes him a natural fit for PopCap”

The appointment further strengthens PopCaps robust position in the mobile games market.
