Dundee based Dynamo Games has announced it's to switch its focus to the growing social games genre as the studio expands and moves to larger premises.
The developer, which has amassed considerable experience working on football titles over the last six years, will soon release its first social game Soccer Tycoon.
Dynamo Games claims the genre as a whole represents a huge opportunity for the industry, largely thanks to the success of both iPhone and Facebook.
Changing times
"The games market is undergoing an incredible transformation which is changing every aspect of the business," says Dynamo Games MD Brian McNicoll.
"New devices and platforms are creating and opening up markets which simply didn't exist a few years ago. Developers cannot afford to ignore these new channels since the business models underpinning the 'mainstream' games industry simply do not work."
The outfit has previously worked on mobile versions of the Championship Manager franchise, as well Player One's Football Tycoon, and games based on the Crystal Maze TV series.
Bigger and better
Coinciding with Soccer Tycoon's pending launch has been a move to new premises within Dundee, with its development team upped by 60 percent and further additions possible in the coming months.
McNicoll concludes, "Dynamo has repositioned itself to take advantage of these new opportunities and ensure we remain at the forefront of the games industry as it continues to evolve. It's about being smarter, not larger."
