UK up 54% from previous quarter

Mobile advertising booming as number of ads served doubles in 2011 reports BuzzCity
Few would disagree with BuzzCity's assessment the mobile ad market is on the up, but the firm's quarterly summaries have the benefit of showing just where the money is being spent.

In total, the company reports the number of ads served on its network during the first six months of 2011 has eclipsed the total amassed throughout the whole of 2010.

In short, if the rest of the year performs just as strongly, the mobile ad market will have doubled in the space of the year, with territories such as the UK leading the line.

Ads on the map

BuzzCity reports a total of 53 billion ads have been served in 2011 so far, already surpassing 2010's total of 52 billion.

In that time, the UK has been marked as one of seven 'hotspots', enjoying growth of 54 percent in the most recent quarter – a figure that itself is up on the 7 percent growth tracked in the previous quarter.

Outside Europe, BuzzCity states the likes of India, Vietnam, Indonesia and the US are also performing strongly, each serving more than 1 billion ads in the most recent quarter alone.

Spreading the base

"Mobile advertising is no longer dominated by a handful of markets," said CEO Dr. KF Lai of the growth.

"To have nearly 50 countries each serving over 100 million adverts per quarter is not only an important milestone, but a real indication of the depth and increasing maturity of the entire mobile ecosystem.

"Mobile internet advertising is now a pervasive force for marketers to spread their message, build brands and transact – a medium that we cannot afford to ignore."
