Building on a shift in strategy first announced back in February, Brighton-based studio Relentless Software has unveiled a new division designed to focus exclusively on digital platforms.
The move described as a way on anticipating trends in the ever-changing social and casual gaming market will expand on the studio's existing digital activities, which has seen the likes of Blue Toad Murder Files: The Mysteries of Little Riddle hit PSN and Quiz Climber launch on iPhone.
Drawing on experience
"The Digital division in Relentless has been established as a separate division that reports to me as CEO," confirmed executive director Andrew Eades.
"We're serious about social and mobile games and that's why we have taken the logical step to separate these activities from the console business."
As a result, Relentless has hired James Wright as executive producer, who recently worked on RedLynx's DrawRace 2 for EA.
"The formalisation of the Digital Division is a valuable starting point to take over from Relentless' self-publishing strategy," added Wright.
"It will bring more fun, accessible and ground-breaking titles across several platforms for non-gamers."
Relentless recently launched Quiz Climber Rivals on the App Store under its own label, with the original version which has now been pulled from sale - having been published by Chillingo at the start of 2011.
