Square Enix launches Indian development contest for phone, tablet and PC games
Japanese publisher Square Enix is looking to find new talent and expand its global reach.

It's just launched a PC, smartphone and tablet game development competition specifically for Indian developers.

Anyone living in India is eligible to enter a project, which must be English language-based.

Required platforms are either PC browser, Android, iOS or Windows Phone.

Square Enix says that games will be judged on their originality, fun, controllability and overall quality, with submissions open during September.

The finalists will be announced on 30 November, with the results due on 20 December.

The single Grand Prize is Rs 1,000,000 (around $18,500).

While the two runners up get Rs 300,000 each ($5,500), and the five finalists receive Rs 150,000 ($2,800).

Winners and some participants will also have the opportunity to work with Square Enix to release their games. In that case, the games will become jointly owned by the developers and Square Enix, although the company points out that this will be by mutual agreement.

Non-prize winning games will remain the IP of their developers.
