Facebook has acquired the team behind Pieceable, a tool that allows businesses to demo native iOS apps inside a web browser.
The news was announced via Pieceable's blog, with the three-strong team set to wind down Pieceable's activities before the end of 2012 as a result.
App happy
"Facebook is not acquiring the company, technology, or customer data," said the company on its blog.
"We know many of you have come to rely on the Pieceable service, and we want to make sure that you can continue to do so even after we shut down our hosted service on December 31, 2012.
"We cant wait to begin working with the Facebook team to help our friends, family, and more than 900 million others connect and share in new ways."
Facebook's motivations have not been made public indeed, even the terms of the acquisition have not been disclosed but the timing of the deal suggests the team may be set to work on Facebook's new App Center for iOS and Android.
