Talking at Smartphone & Tablet Games Summit

PopCap, PlayScreen and Red Robot Labs bound for GDC Online 2012
GDC 2012 may have the rather broad remit of online, social and cloud gaming, but its Smartphone & Tablet Games Summit is a much more focused affair.

Taking placed on the second day GDC Online, the summit will run from 10am – 6pm on 10 October 2012, and welcome speakers from the likes of PlayScreen, Red Robot Labs, ngmoco and PopCap.

Talking talks

Playscreen CCO William Volk is set to run a session on marketing casual and social games on iOS.

Meanwhile, ngmoco's Chris Plummer will dissect the Mobage megahit Rage of Bahamut in an onstage case study, with PopCap's Giordano Contestabile also lined up to describe one year in the life of Bejeweled Blitz.

A session dedicated entirely to location-based games will also gather Grey Area CEO Ville Vesterinen, Red Robot Labs chief product officer Peter Hawley and independent developer Caryl Shaw.

And the rest

Of course, the main GDC Online conference will also feature plenty of speakers that are of interest to mobile developers and publishers.

King.com CEO Riccardo Zacconi will discuss the company's transition from Facebook to mobile, Disney's Jiri Kupiainen will deliver an HTML5 reality check and Unity's Adam Gutterman will lay out the challenges (and promise) of multiplatform production.

Registration is open now, and an all access conference pass is currently priced at $995, which represents a $225 saving against the cost of buying tickets onsite. A summit and tutorials pass is cheaper – currently available for $495.

For a full list of the event's many speakers and sessions, as well as full details of the ticketing options available, take a look at the GDC Online 2012 website.
