All the action and talking points from Pocket Gamer's first Berlin Mobile Mixer

After a day talking about user acquisition at the App Promotion Summit 2013, it was time to relax.

It was time to head down to Belushi's for Pocket Gamer's first Mobile Mixer in Berlin.

Thanks to sponsors GameGenetics - your partner for the promotion of F2P online and mobile games - and Immersion - bringing touch feedback to your Android games and apps - we had a most excellent time.

As well as eats and drinks and plenty of networking, and GameGenetics' iPad Air prize draw, we also chewed over some industry talking points with our expert panel.

The market expands

Dealing with the user acquisition and promotion market were David Mohr from GameGenetics and Chris Hanage from PapayaMobile.

Both expected the market to continue to boom in 2014, with more sophisticated tools becoming available, especially in terms of tracking post-install behaviour and LTV.

David Mohr and Kristina Rothe

Kristina Rothe, Microsoft's game development evangelist, was all fired up to see how the launch of Xbox One would impact Windows and Windows Phone as the promise of deep and immersive cross-platforming gaming becomes reality.

Similarly, Peter van der Linden, Immersion's developer evangelist, was supportive of the move from platform holders such as Apple to support gamepads.

He said it thought such broadening of the market would only encourage developers to such Immersion's Android-based haptics technology.

Too much

As for developers, Wooga's head of marketing Eric Seufert sounded a note of caution. He predicted that the lack of transparency around LTV and UA would see some big players spending more money in promotion and marketing than they would generate to disastrous effect.

On another level, Berlin start-up Jens Kortboyer from It Matters Games was looking forward to the support small indies such as It Matters would get from Sony and Microsoft.

Yet, he said, it remains tough for companies such as It Matters, which are building up their reputation with work-for-hire projects.
