Capcom merges North American and European mobile operations
Capcom Interactive has announced that it's merging its European and North American mobile operations.

The new division will be known as Capcom Mobile, and will be run by a single management team. It'll be headed up by Midori Yuasa, president of Capcom Interactive.

"Moving forward we will be working towards one strategy of producing great games with strong brands to technically high standards across both Europe and North America," she says.

"By combining forces we can execute a balanced portfolio of titles on a global level, whilst maintaining a focus on providing products tailored to individual territories."

Executive VP of publishing Matt Gillis will head commercial activities for Capcom Mobile, while head of studios Manabu Seko will head up Capcom's R&D side in London, Toronto and Los Angeles.

The new Capcom Mobile division looks set to continue the existing strategy of releasing mobile games based on old and new Capcom console franchises (for example Street Fighter, Resident Evil) while also signing up licences like University Challenge and Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?
