Set to 'steer corporate development'

Rovio nabs Nokia veteran Teemu Suila to serve as new COO
Finnish development powerhouse Rovio has announced the appoinment for former Nokia executive Teemu Suila as the firm's new COO.

Suila – who will take charge of the developer's strategic objectives as it looks to make a mark on global entertainment – has previously served with several business units at both Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks after joining the firm in 1995.

The developer claims Suila brings with him a "wealth of experience in corporate strategic and operational development".

Handing over the reigns

"Teemu's competence in strategic planning and execution is essential to raise Rovio's operations to the next level," said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed.

"Rovio's board and staff are delighted to welcome such an outstanding leader to our team."

Suila replaces former COO Harri Koponen, who Rovio claims had a major hand in transforming the studio from a plucky startup into the mobile master it is today.

For his part, Koponen said he was "proud" to have contributed to Rovio's success in recent years, and remarked that now was a "good time to pass over the reins."

"I am thrilled to join the talented Rovio team in growing the company as a major player in the Entertainment industry," said new COO Teemu Suila.

"The company has been growing fast and it is crucial that we drive our activities in an effective and efficient manner, without losing the entrepreneurial and artistic spirit."
