InMobi survey says 29% will buy iPad 3, of which 54% are tablet newbies
InMobi, the self-proclaimed largest independent mobile ad network, has surveyed 689 mobile users on their attitudes towards the forthcoming iPad 3.

The survey, distributed on InMobi's mobile ad network, found that 29 percent of respondents are planning to purchase the iPad 3. Of those, 54 percent do not already own a tablet.

Pricing seems to be a factor for many prospective buyers, however. 65 percent of those who intend to buy an iPad 3 would also consider purchasing an iPad or iPad 2 at a reduced price instead.

If the iPad 3 costs more than $599, 57 percent of all respondents would opt for an older model instead.

Business or pleasure

51 percent of those surveyed by InMobi would apparently purchase the iPad 3 for entertainment, rather than for business or education.

That's a surprisingly low figure considering that 85 percent of iPad owners surveyed by AYTM had games installed on the device, perhaps demonstrating that even iPads purchased for business end up with odd game installed.

Finally, of those surveyed, 44 percent would not consider another tablet brand instead of the iPad, and those who would consider other brands favoured the Samsung Galaxy.

Only 14 percent of those surveyed would consider purchasing a Kindle Fire.

Still, given the small sample group and its self selection bias, the findings shouldn't be taken as being statistically relevant; more like an anecdotal finger in the air.
