App Store hits 300,000 apps as 1,000 new titles a day released
Almost fifty days on from reaching its last milestone, ad exchange network Mobclix reports that there are more than 300,000 apps on the App Store.

Mobclix claims Apple added its 300,000th app to the marketplace over the weekend, with the App Store having surpassed 250,000 apps back at the end of August.

That means over a thousand new apps having been hitting the platform each and every day over the course of the last two months.

Splitting the categories, Mobclix's reckons there are just over 50,000 games on the marketplace, with 69 percent of all apps on offer paid and 31 percent free.

As VentureBeat points out, however, not all the apps are in the best condition. Various estimates from app trackers suggest there are around 55,000 inactive apps on the marketplace, with the number of active titles – from the 334,000 or more approved apps – coming in at between 278,000 and 279,000.

But even discounting latent apps puts Apple comfortably ahead of Android, with AndroLib.com estimated Android Market's total at more than 113,000 apps. Google recently placed the number of approved, active adds at around 90,000.
