SouthPeak may have something of a repetition for churning out mid-priced releases on console, but the Virginia-based publisher claims to have more ambitious designs for its forthcoming Android output.
As announced today, SouthPeak says it is to begin development on a number of new games for smartphones and tablets running Google's OS, thanks to what it described as the cutting edge technology provided by Nvidia's Tegra 2 mobile processor.
Aboard with Android
"In keeping with our strategy to aggressively pursue unique opportunities in the digital gaming space, were thrilled to develop some of the first games for devices powered by Nvidias Tegra 2 processor," said president and CEO Melanie Mroz.
SouthPeak states all its Android releases will come with intuitive user interfaces, faster frame rates and industry-leading 3D graphics running on Epic's Unreal Engine 3.
Indeed, the opportunity to work with such technology on Android devices creates something of a perfect storm, the firm states.
"Android's rapidly growing market share represents a huge opportunity for SouthPeak and we are proud to be at the forefront of introducing high quality games applications to this market."
The first SouthPeak games on Android are expected to launch at the start of the Christmas season.
