One of the most crucial elements of any social game is the ability for developers to monetise.
PlayPhone, which already manages its own social mobile gaming network, has lifted the lid a new suite of virtual goods management tools, allowing studios to create and define their own virtual items for iOS, Android and HTML5 releases.
PXP power
Dubbed PXP, the new suite provides consumers with the option of paying for goods with cash, each game's own currency, or playcredits, which is PlayPhone's universal currency. This supports various payment solutions including direct carrier billing.
"PlayPhone is 100 percent committed to providing the most turnkey solutions for developers to easily publish, monetise and socialise their mobile games," said senior VP and GM for PlayPhone Anders Evju.
"PXP will especially benefit the enterprising game studios giving them sophisticated game economy management features, making their games highly competitive within 24 hours."
Got game
As well as the virtual currency platform itself, developers who utilise PXP will have access to cloud-based back ups for data, global customer care lines, and no additional server components for the virtual goods themselves.
The first PXP-equipped games on PlayPhone's social gaming network include HiGame's Happy Reef on iOS, and Hakuna's Farm Invaders, China Wireless Arts' Castle of Shadows and Talent Walker's Fish Reef on Android.
More than 1,400 developers are currently using the company's SDKs, which include cross-platform support, synchronous multiplayer gaming, single sign-on with Facebook, and turnkey billing options.
More details can be found on PlayPhone's developer website.
