BAFTA announces Inside Games showcase; Namco Bandai, Sega, Valve and others to exhibit

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced a new public showcase 'Inside Games' slated to run on Wednesday 12 March in London.

Inside Games is BAFTA's first pre-Awards event to celebrate gaming excellence. It's aimed at offering the public hands-on experience with a panoply of highly anticipated games.

But far from being a simple demo pavilion, Inside Games will also include a series of BAFTA-curated talks with game developers alongside an 'Inside Games Arcade' to showcase indie game talent.

Celebrating games

Speaking on the Inside Games showcase, Harvey Elliott - chair of BAFTA's Games Committee - sees the move as a way of connecting with gamers.

"After a review of last year's Awards activity, the committee believed it was time to broaden the ways in which BAFTA celebrates games and to enable the industry to engage more directly with gamers," he detailed.

"Our Inside Games event has been curated by BAFTA to give gamers unprecedented access to the developers behind some of the best new titles of 2014."

Tickets for the Inside Games showcase can be purchased for £12.

Additionally, BAFTA is opening its doors to the public for the first time and tickets to the British Academy Games Awards - which include access to Inside Games - may be purchased for £30.
