Candy Crush Saga is officially the most downloaded Android game of 2014

Google Play Top 5 titles revealed

Candy Crush Saga is officially the most downloaded Android game of 2014

It might be the new year, but Google has proven it’s not yet ready to shut the door on 2014 with a new infographic.

The Android Official Blog has published a post unveiling the top downloaded apps and games on Google Play during the year.

Titled “2014: The Year in Entertainment,” Google’s post reveals that Candy Crush Saga was the most downloaded game of the year.

It’s not the first time that the match-three puzzler has topped charts, with the game also having won the accolade of most downloaded iOS app in 2013.

Other games in the top five included Don’t Tap The White Tile, Farm Heroes Saga, Subway Surfers, and Clash of Clans.

Google didn’t reveal exact download figures, but it did reveal that in 2014 Play Games users unlocked 3.5 billion achievements.

Sales saga

The news follows King’s Q3 financial call, which uncovered that sales had dropped 13% to $514 million.

Despite this, the puzzler’s sequel, Candy Crush Soda Saga, was launched that same month via an aggressive UA push across Facebook.

With nine videos planned for Candy Crush Soda Saga’s launch campaign, it’s clear that King is pulling out all the stops to ensure similar chart success for its newest title.

Meanwhile, Google also revealed that Health & Fitness is the fastest-growing category on Google Play, with MyFitnessPal named as the top app in the category.
