Ubisoft has acquired prolific mobile games publisher Ketchapp.
The Paris-based company is said to be the fourth largest mobile games publisher in terms of number of downloads.
It has numerous successful games under its belt including 2048, Stack, Stick Hero and Jelly Jump.
Ubisoft's acquisition shows the company's desire to significantly expand its operations in the mobile space. The publisher already has a number of mobile games and owns UK-based Hungry Shark developer Future Games of London.
The acquisition of Ketchapp is expected to close during the third quarter of the 2016-2017 financial year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Stacking up
Ketchapp was founded in 2014 and since then its games have been downloaded nearly 700 million times.
In a press release, Ubisoft was also keen to point out the publisher’s expertise in mobile advertising and cross-promotion.
"We are thrilled to become part of Ubisoft's international network of talented teams," said Ketchapp co-founders Antoine and Michel Morcos.
"We founded Ketchapp with the intention of creating captivating gaming experiences, and we are looking forward to leveraging Ubisoft's creativity and resources to enrich our existing and upcoming titles."
Ketchapp was ranked 46th in PocketGamer.biz’s Top 50 Developers of 2016.
