Candy Crush Saga maker King has launched a development competition for developers using its engine that will see six winning teams sent to GDC 2017 to show off their games.
Developers can submit any kind of game provided it was made in Defold. Winners will be given three expo passes, a shared booth at GDC and have their travel and accommodation paid for.
Winners are also under no obligation to promote the game engine while at the event. King states that "we would rather you talk about yourself and your game. That’s why you’re there; not to promote Defold."
All yours
Games submitted must have at least two minutes of play time, but the company is not necessarily looking for finished products. It states that "we prefer seeing something very small that is awesome rather than a full game that is mediocre".
All rights for the games remain with the developer, and they are under no obligation to release the title if they win.
Interested developers can find out more on Defold's website. Entries for the competition close on January 22nd 2017.
