Multiplayer servers set up from one tool

Corona Labs adds GameSparks plug-in to make backend servers simpler for mobile developers

Mobile game development platform Corona Labs has added a GameSparks plug-in to its engine for easy access to the backend-as-a-service tool.

The plug-in can be used to integrate all the server-side components of a game in one tool. It does this without developers needing to set up their own servers.

Available options include leaderboards, achievements, chat, tournaments, lobbies and matchmaking for real-time multiplayer. It can also handle all the in-game economy and in-app purchases used by the game.

Accelerating development

"Like Corona, GameSparks dedicates itself to accelerating the development process, and is passionate about enabling triple-A and independent developers alike to build and maintain great games throughout their lifecycle," said GameSparks CTO Gabriel Page.

"By teaming up with Corona Labs to provide a direct integration for GameSparks on the Marketplace, we are now able to streamline this process even further, helping even more developers to build, tune and manage highly engaging and creative games."

GameSparks surpassed 35 million MAUs for its service in February 2016. It currently supports over 250 million players across a wide variety of games on mobile and PC.
