UK games trade body Ukie has kicked off its fourth Student Game Jam which will run from May 17th to 19th.
The game jam sees 21 student teams from across the UK competing to create a game in 48 hours. The theme of this year's jam is Empowerment, which teams may interpret as desired.
Companies including Unity, Gram Games and Criterion have partnered with the game jam. Each team will also have a mentor from a UK games studio, including:

- Fire Hazard Games
- Gas Light Games
- Ground Shatter
- Jagex
- Quantum Soup
- Red Panda
- Spilt Milk
- Three Knots
- Trash Games
- Voice Art
- Xiotech Studios
The next generation
"We are very pleased to have the support of the industry to hold our biggest ever Student Game Jam," said Ukie CEO Jo Twist.
"The Jam gives the emerging generation of talent the opportunity to test their skills, challenge their creativity, and build valuable relationships with the industry."
