This week: The Big Indie Fest @ ReVersed

We can’t quite believe that we’re halfway through the year and it’s July already! That means that after many months in the making, it’s almost time to open the doors on The Big Indie Fest @ ReVersed in Vienna.

In fact, we turn the key in the lock, break down the barriers and open our arms to the games industry in the historic MuseumsQuartier this very Thursday, July 5th.

The four-day celebration of gaming opens with two days entirely dedicated to trade delegates for an an industry-only hotbed of networking and note taking, with a four-track conference schedule on day two.

Speaking of which

The second day’s schedule features speakers from some of the most interesting and successful indie studios.

Kicking off with a keynote by Vlambeer’s Rami Ismail, the pace never lets up through the day with speakers that include Eline Muijres, Dutch Game Garden; Des Gayle, Altered Gene; Michael Schade, Rockfish Games and Catharina Bøhler, Sarepta Studio.

Tricks for the trade

More than 100 of the best indie game developers from central and southern Europe will showcase their latest work, giving you the opportunity to see what other studios are working on right now.

With more than 500 trade visitors expected to attend on Thursday and Friday, all delegates can use our free online scheduler to arrange meetings with attending press, publishers and platform holders.

Big Indie Pitch and ReVersed Awards

We can’t wait to see what the entrants have to show in the next round of the international series of Big Indie Pitch competitions. The winners will be put forward for consideration in the end of year finale Big Indie Awards at Korea’s G-Star this November.

But you don’t have to wait four months and fly halfway around the world for your next hit of games awards. How does this Sunday sound? That’s when the ReVersed Awards will recognise the best games in five categories from across the weekend’s exhibits, including Best Game, Best Concept, Best Graphics, Most Creative and Best Story.

ReVersed Game Jam

Also taking part during the event is the ReVersed Game Jam, where participants will get 48 hours to explore the process of development and get the chance to demo their project to the public on July 7th and 8th. There’s still time to sign up.

It’s The Weekend!

Did we say demo to the public? Sure - Saturday morning will bring the first of over 4,000 gamers across our threshold in a flood of enthusiasm and passion that will flow over into Sunday too.

It’s a unique opportunity for dev teams to undertake a killer combo of user testing and guerrilla marketing direct with their core market. And for the gamers, it’s a fun weekend getting hands on with games and a chance to meet the people that make them.

ReVersed Director Tom De Roeck previously picked some of the forthcoming highlights that will be at the show, including Rarebyte’s Isometric action adventurer Seeds Of Sol; asymmetrical multiplayer VR with Goliath; and Doublequote Studio’s spaghetti western Blood Will Be Spilled.

Don’t miss out

It’s hard to believe that this time next week, it will all be over. It’s been such a big part of our lives as we’ve poured our love into this four-day festival that we hope will be enjoyed as much by the industry as by the general public.

We’d love it if you could join us in Vienna this week and be part of something special.
