Rumour: Rovio to pick up Mr Goodliving

Angry Birds studio looking for fast expansion

Rumour: Rovio to pick up Mr Goodliving
One of the most interesting rumours from Mobile World Congress was the status of RealNetwork's highly regarded Helsinki-based mobile studio Mr Goodliving, which is in the process of being shut down.

During the show, it posted a list on its website of all the positions that are being cut so potential new employers could see the talent on offer.

In addition, it said companies looking to take a large number of staff would be allowed to pitch to the workforce, and interview them in situ.

Resources for expansion

Now, sources on the ground suggest high-flying Angry Birds studio Rovio, which is based a mere 8.1 km away in Espoo, is looking to take on a substantial number of Mr Goodliving's 50 or so staff.

This makes complete sense in terms of allowing Rovio to quickly bulk out its mobile development resources with a talented team, and of course, it has plenty of cash to fund such expansion.

There are also suggestions that some of the senior management at Mr Goodliving are thinking about setting up a start up development.

And another mobile developer known to be looking for new recruits is Helsinki-based Grey Area, which is behind location-based online iPhone game Shadow Cities.
