Super Evil Megacorp’s flagship MOBA Vainglory has earned more than $50m in revenue since launching in 2014, according to Sensor Tower.
The mobile intelligence firm says this positions the title third in the hotly-contested MOBA space, behind Tencent’s Arena of Valor and Moonton’s Mobile Legends.
$16 million of Vainglory’s total revenue came from the US, accounting for 32 per cent of total sales. The game’s second largest market is said to be Japan, at 12 per cent.
An Apple a day
Unsurprisingly, just under two-thirds of the revenue came from Apple devices, counting for 64 per cent. This makes sense given the game’s early iOS-exclusivity, combined with its frequency of use as an iPhone tech demo.
Vainglory was recently used to showcase the iPhone X’s gaming capabilities, much like it was shown off during Apple’s Metal API launch alongside the iPhone 6.
