Short Cuts: Author Will Luton on why F2P games are harder to design and make money from
At the Develop in Brighton 2013 conference, we caught up with Will Luton.

The game designer turned consultant and author has just launched his book Free2Play: Making Money From Games You Give Away (Amazon link UK / US).

It provided a good opportunity to talk about how he sees the business model developing.

"Free-to-play will become the dominant model but the rivalry between free-to-play and paid is ridiculous," Luton comments.

"They are two business models and they both have advantages and disadvantages.

"It's harder to make money from it [F2P]... There's much more thought that needs to be put to a product which is free-to-play."
