Speaker Spotlight: eRepublik Labs's Alexis Bonte on hunting for the next Supercell

Pocket Gamer Connects London 2019 will take place on January 21st to 22nd. To give you a taste of what to expect, we'll regularly be publishing interviews with the speakers at the show.

In today’s speaker spotlight, we're catching up with eRepublik CEO Alexis Bonte ahead of his "Hunting for the next Supercell" talk at Pocket Gamer Connects London.

As part of the event, we're also running a side-attraction called Investor Connector, which led us to reach out to Bonte for a chat last year about what investors look for in clients.

Bonte is the co-founder and CEO of eRepublik Labs (now part of the Stillfront group that is quoted on Nasdaq First North). He combines those duties with being a Venture Partner at Atomico advising on new investments in France, Spain & Portugal and Eastern Europe as well as sourcing and accelerating growth in the games, blockchain and the travel vertical.

PocketGamer.Biz: Could you tell us a bit about your company?

Alexis Bonte: Stillfront is a group of independent creators, publishers, and distributors of digital games – with a vision to become the leading group of indie game creators and publishers.

Atomico is a VC firm that exists for more than returns, even though they are our lifeblood. At our core, we believe entrepreneurs are the ultimate agents of positive, transformational change across every aspect of our society and economy.

What do your roles entail?

Within Stillfront I lead the eRepublik Labs studio and the Stillfront Executive community helping on strategy and M&A.

Within Atomico I source investments in Spain and France as well as in the Game, Travel and consumer verticals mainly as well as help portfolio companies accelerate their growth.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to get into it?

Get started.

How has the games industry changed since you first started?

Boxed games, to online to mobile.

Which part of the Connects event are you most looking forward to and why?

Seeing great friends again and perhaps finding the next acquisition for Stillfront or investment for Atomico.
