Survey users who have their email set up for IMAP, and chances are they'll report accessing their account on more than one device – it's the nature of the beast.

Likewise, it's not surprising to read social mobile games portal itsmy report that almost half of all mobile web gamers in Europe and US play their titles on more than one device, given one of the main advantages of such games is the ability to do just that.

Game on, and on, and on

Nonetheless, the firm's survey of 10,000 social gamers concluded that 45 percent play games on two different devices, with 38 percent only using their mobile to tackle such titles.

It is, more than anything else, a vindication of games portals such as itsmy, with 10 percent of those surveyed actually reporting they play the same social games on four or more different devices – mobile, PC, console, tablet and TV all included.

"2011 will be the year of cross device and browser gaming," said itsmy CEO Antonio Vince Staybl of the results.

"The mobile phone is still the first device to play our social games, but netbooks, gaming consoles, iPods and tablets are catching up rapidly. And for the first time we have Internet TV showing up in the gaming statistics."
