Nintendo's Switch console has now sold over two million units in the US alone seven months since it was first launched.

The NPD states that it was the top-selling gaming hardware in September 2017, and has held this position for three months consecutively. It has been the top-selling hardware in five of the seven months it has been available.

Switch software continues to perform well too, with Ubisoft's Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle scoring seventh place in the best-selling games list for the month. Perennial first-party hits The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe took 10th and 11th place respectively.

Taking over

Combined with its 3DS family of consoles and the recently launched Super NES Classic Edition, Nintendo took a two-thirds share of the entire gaming hardware sales for September 2017.

Support for the Switch continues to grow as the console gains traction. Even Sony will be releasing games on the console through its new publishing arm Unties.

The console's success has caused Nintendo's shares to jump to a nine-year high. This is also seemingly been helped by the upcoming launch of Tencent's hugely popular MOBA Arena of Valor on the console.
