Skybolt Zack soars to victory at the Big Indie Pitch at Develop:Brighton 2018

Arcade rhythm platformer Skybolt Zack has taken first place at the Big Indie Pitch at Develop:Brighton 2018.

The Big Indie Pitch is a regular event run by the makers of PocketGamer.biz. It gives indie developers the chance to pitch their games to industry experts and journalists in a speed-dating-styled format.

Teams get the opportunity to get valuable feedback on their games, as well as win great prizes such as promotional packages and, more importantly, the coveted Big Indie Pitch bat.

We’re now nearly halfway through the year, and there are already some incredible names that will be looking to make even more of a mark come our annual Big Indie Awards, which this year will take place at the G-Star conference in Busan, South Korea.

Skybolt Zack

Taking first place at the Big Indie Pitch at Develop:Brighton 2018, Devs Must Die’s Skybolt Zack is a super-slick fast-paced platformer with combat mechanics inspired by rhythm games. Players must punch and dash their way to victory and rack up the highest score possible - the quicker the level is completed, the more points users will get.

Oco

Spectrum48’s Oco is an exceptionally clever one-touch puzzler-platformer that straddles that fine line between easy to get into, tough to master. Based around a circular platform and including a procedurally generated soundtrack composed on the fly, players must obtain all the squares without falling off the platform. There’s also a level editor too to add further replayability.

PaperLander

From ThisWayUp Games comes PaperLander, described as the grandson of Lunar Lander born in LittleBigPlanet in virtual reality. The charming title features 40 physics-based puzzle-action levels in which players must guide the rocket around the level and safely land it on the final landing pad - being sure not to wreck the ship in the process.
