New studio Wanderword to develop interactive audiobooks for mobile devices and smart speakers

Two games industry veterans have opened a new studio in Sweden called Wanderword to develop interactive audiobooks for mobile devices and smart speakers.

Microsoft director of operations and integrations Peter Zetterberg and Fatshark chairman Thomas Lindgren are the brains behind the company.

Immersive storytelling

The Wanderword platform is described as supporting speech recognition and branching narratives, through which writers can sell and share their stories.

Based in Boden, the company wants to become a new hub for digital entertainment and games.

"Wanderword fuses the concept of audiobooks with the immersion of video games,” said Zetterberg.

“The studio in Boden will spearhead our efforts in this new business. The team will work closely with international and published authors, design engineers and music composers to create immersive interactive audiobooks.”
