The release of Motorola Mobility's Q1 2011 financials which saw the company post net revenues of $3 billion, up 22 percent year-on-year also resulted in the firm publishing its first shipment figures for Xoom.
Early estimates suggested 100,000 units had been sold by the start of April, painting what analysts described as a somewhat bleak picture for the tablet.
Total shipments for the quarter turned out to be more than double that figure, coming in at 250,000, though Motorola has made no statement as to how many devices have actually been sold.

Nonetheless, Xoom's slow start is offset by an overall rise in mobile device shipments, hitting 9.3 million for the quarter up from 8.5 million in the same period in 2010.
Of those shipments, smartphones made up the bulk, with 4.1 million units making their way to retail. That too is up from Q1 2010, when 2.3 million smartphones hit the shelves.
Mobile device revenues were up accordingly, settling at $2.1 billion up 30 percent year-on-year.
"In the first quarter, we reached a major milestone in our history by becoming a new independent, public company," said chairman and CEO Sanjay Jha.
"With a well recognised brand, a strong balance sheet and industry leading intellectual property, we have the right assets to deliver an exciting pipeline of products, continue to grow our business and further improve our financial results."
Motorola's GAAP operating loss came in at $89 million, compared to $192 million in Q1 2010. Non-GAAP operating loss was also down from $148 million a year ago to $61 million this quarter.
