Following on from its recent roll out on BlackBerry, ad network BuzzCity has added Android to its roster of supported platforms, launching a dedicated SDK.
Like its SDKs for other platforms, BuzzCity's Android kit allows developers to employ in-app ads in their titles, providing what it claims is a lucrative additional revenue stream.
"Android is well positioned to power a large number and variety of connected devices in the near future," said BuzzCity CEO KF Lai.
"It is the only non-proprietary operating system that allows both developers and handset manufacturers to rapidly develop the user interface for new applications and we believe that this gives it a greater chance of wider commercial adoption."
Opening up AndroidBuzzCity's SDK could prove to be an especially valuable addition to Android, given paid apps on Android Market are restricted to certain countries.
Indeed, BuzzCity is particularly strong in the Indian and Indonesian market.
As such, the firm claims this move will enable developers to mop up with advertising supported free releases in areas where app billing isn't available.
"Let's not forget that free apps drive downloads regardless of billing," concluded Lai.
BuzzCity's ad network currently serves 4.5 billion ads a month, with revenue earned on a per click basis.
The firm also offers developers signed up to its network a spot on its free mobile games portal Djuzz.
