PocketGamer.biz: What does your role at the company entail?

Sabrina Carmona: I am a lead producer at King, based in the London studio. Ultimately, I’m responsible for building exciting and engaging game franchises. I work with my world class team to transform brilliant ideas into best of class mobile F2P games.

What do you think have been the most exciting developments in gaming since the last Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki?

The attention that battle royale games have received made me realise that mobile gaming has moved beyond just something that people do on their commute.

Although casual games continue to grow, and heavily influence the industry, it’s becoming apparent that gamers are looking for new and engaging experiences that can be played across multiple gaming platforms.

What are your thoughts on the way the industry has grown in the last 12 months?

Like I said, it’s amazing to see how the mobile gaming industry has evolved in the past 12 months. Games like Fortnite have placed a premium on experience, forcing other genres to use it as a benchmark and explore new monetisation models.

Players now expect a certain level of quality and depth that pushes teams to be even more creative when designing player experiences.

What do you think the next 12 months in mobile gaming are going to look like?

I believe that we will see the creation of new genres and hybrid games. This is super exciting because it consolidates our industry even more and increases our challenges.

Additionally, it will be interesting to see whether more studios and publishers follow in Epic’s footsteps – with more console games porting to mobile.

Which part of Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki are you most looking forward to and why?

Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki has always been one of my favourite events to take part in.

This will be my third year in a row and it always has great networking opportunities, as well as good industry insights. I am looking forward to catching up with everyone again!

Harry used to be really good at Snake on the Nokia 5110. Apparently though, digital snake wrangling isn't a proper job, so now he writes words about games instead.
